More than 9500 job-seekers have been placed into work through Jobs Victoria since October 2016 and almost $100 million has been invested for its tailored services across the state.
Services are delivered by employment specialists who work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare job-seekers for those roles.
The Pan Pacific Melbourne is an employer that has partnered with Jobs Victoria to place 12 job-seekers who were previously facing barriers to employment. One of those is Keegan, who started work at the hotel early last year in the food and beverage department.
He says getting the job has given him the opportunity to not only grow as a person, but to also feel like an important part of the hotel’s daily operations. He hopes to learn everything he possibly can about the hotel and aspires to eventually move into a role in finance or maintenance with the company.
